The Mask
by Austin Jepson
Over time, Autism wears lots of costumes.
Some are scary,
Some are funny,
Lots are really sad.
But, all are only masks,
Covering the faces of the people
Trapped within.
Autism can steal and plunder,
Can wrestle and pin,
Can laugh and can scorn,
But it will never win.
Many days will come,
Many hours will pass,
Many battles will wage,
Many wars will be won.
Many places I’ll go,
Many things I can see,
All this will I do,
Autism won’t define me.

April 19, 2016 at 2:06 pmLike speaking and thinking in a foreign language, autism may offer refined definition and understanding of observations and communication. Write Austin. Write what you see and feel.

April 20, 2016 at 7:56 amI appreciate the poem. It helped me to see and understand just a little bit more about a loving Father in Heaven and the challenges He gives each one of us. I am sure the day will come that you will stand proud before Him at the way you have taken your challenge and used it to increase your talents.
